Nitric Oxide:  it’s a gas!

In 1992 Nitric Oxide was proclaimed  “molecule of the year by the American Association for the Advancement of Science.  By 1998 its physiological importance garnered a Nobel Prize for the scientists who discovered it as a key molecule in the cardiovascular system which helps keep blood vessels healthy and regulate blood pressure.  Since then, nitric oxide has also been found to be essential to the immune system and to the nervous system (including the brain) as well as integral with many chronic health conditions and diseases, such as chronic inflammation, erectile dysfunction, and cancer. This has led researchers to focus on nitric oxide as a potential target for medical therapies.

How does Light Therapy work with Nitric Oxide?

Simply put, a series of metabolic events occur with the releasing of nitric oxide when a light therapy device, such as TrueLight emits 630nm, 660nm, and 850nm light wavelengths, which are easily absorbed by hemoglobin in the bloodstream and other body tissue.

This release of nitric oxide dilates blood vessels and allows for greater cellular energy production. The result is in increased cellular activity that can promote healing, muscle recovery, and tissue strengthening.

Pictured below are the results from a nitric oxide test performed on a test subject before using the TrueLight Energy Square. The test strip on the left of the picture shows that the subject’s nitric oxide levels are depleted, demonstrating low levels of nitric oxide in the blood stream. The test strip on the right shows the increase in nitric oxide to an optimal level  after having utilized the TrueLight Energy Square. This demonstrates dramatically increased levels of nitric oxide in the test subject’s blood stream, after only 20 minutes of TrueLight use.

How is Nitric Oxide good for you?

Your endothelium is tissue that forms a single layer of cells lining various organs and cavities of the body, especially the blood vessels, heart, and lymphatic vessels. When it senses heart-healthy conditions, such as physical activity and low cholesterol, it releases more nitric oxide. That’s a very good thing. Nitric oxide expands the blood vessels, increasing blood flow and decreasing plaque growth and blood clotting.

Why not just take Nitric Oxide supplements?

Nitric oxide supplements do not actually provide nitric oxide, which is a gas. Instead, they generally contain L-arginine which can, in some people, increase nitric oxide.  Nitric oxide, in turn, potentially increases blood flow to muscles and other organs. In trained athletes the supplements appear to do very little.  Your best bet at achieving increased nitric oxide levels is through the use of a red-light therapy device and these additional tips:

5 Other Ways to Increase Nitric Oxide Naturally:

  1.   Eat Vegetables High in Nitrates. Nitrate, a compound found in certain vegetables, is one of the many reasons vegetables are healthy for you. Leafy green veggies tend to be highest in nitric oxide.
  2.   Increase Your Intake of Antioxidants.
  3.   Limit Your Use of Antibacterial Mouthwash.
  4.   Get Your Blood Flowing with Exercise.
  5.  Do not smoke or “vape” as this impairs nitric oxide function in the body.

Bottom Line:

An optimal way to easily maintain a healthy nitric oxide level and keep blood vessels healthy is to utilize the TrueLight Energy Square at least three times a week, 20 minutes a day. This easily fits into your daily routine since it works anywhere on your body. You can put your feet on it at your desk, put it behind your back at your desk chair or while sitting on your couch.  Additionally, eat a varied plant-based diet. Exercising regularly also helps enhance nitric oxide generation. This is one way a heart-healthy diet and exercise help improve cardiovascular health as well as health in general.
