How it Works

LED light therapy (or photobiomodulation) is like photosythesis for the body. It is a painless, non-invasive form of treatment that uses specific wavelengths of light to charge your cells and promote faster, deeper healing. TrueLight© light therapy devices use a patent-pending combination of dark red, red, yellow, and infrared light to help heal the body from the surface of your skin all the way down to the bone. These devices also have innovative pulsating or steady light options to promote rapid healing and pain relief.

Red light therapy works from the inside-out to enhance mitochondrial function in cells. This, in turn, leads to several skin benefits. Red light can help the body decrease skin inflammation, smooth skin tone, repair sun damage, fade scars and stretch marks, and can even build collagen in the skin, which can reduce wrinkles and help heal wounds.  Red light wavelengths affect bodily cells on a biochemical level by increasing mitochondrial function – the ability to produce cellular energy. The more cellular energy production, the better the body functions as a whole. When red light wavelengths are used on the skin’s surface, they can penetrate 8-10 millimeters into the skin. May Benefit:

Near-infrared (NIR) wavelengths (typically 850nm or 880nm) have been reported as penetrating deeper through skin and bone. Skin depth varies around the body, and transmission can also be affected by skin pigmentation levels. Near infrared light has been used in therapeutic devices to assist with the treatment of a variety of injuries. NIR light penetrates more deeply than UV or visible light and is benign to living tissue. There is very little heat generated by the LED array and therefore no potential thermal injury to individuals being treated. LED is well-tolerated by biological tissues and has no known detrimental effect. Researchers working with NASA have found that light therapy using NIR LEDs operate by activating color-sensitive chemicals in body tissues, stimulating the process in a cell’s mitochondria. Light wavelengths from 680nm to 880nm have been found to travel through skin and muscle tissue, to prompt tissue and deep wound healing. 


Yellow light has a shallow skin penetration and can be effective for skin issues involving redness, such as spider veins or rosacea.  Though it is not typically used for tissue healing or collagen/elastin production, yellow light does excel in the assistance of aiding problems such as sun damage. It is often considered to be an ideal therapy solution for sensitive skin with calming and soothing benefits. Yellow light therapy is also sometimes referred to as amber light therapy. It encompasses the range of wavelengths from 570nm to 620nm. Our TrueLight Energy devices offer a unique feature of allowing the lights the ability to pulse or hold steady. It has been discovered that when LED lights are pulsed, body tissue can heal more rapidly. When it is given a continuous burst, it sedates the cell and stops the pain. When a single-frequency pulsed light hits the cell, it stimulates the cell to start producing more protein than it normally does, as a result, the cell heals faster. Even when the LED light source is taken away, the cell continues its healing. The continuous beam has a reverse effect that can remove/dull pain, reduce inflammation and allows muscle tissue to relax.
